Dear TeXpert,
I tried to reinstall the Adobe Garamond font (I had to do a reinstall of
my OS, which is kubuntu 12.04 LTS).
To do this, I used the pad.zip (from http://home.vr-web.de/was/fonts)
and installed everything as mentioned (renamed the type1 fonts according
to the Karl Berry scheme), and did a 'texhash' and 'updmap-sys --enable
Map=pad.map).
When I try to dvips the document, it fails with following error message:
*****

--dpi 907 padr8r
mktexpk: don't know how to create bitmap font for padr8r.
(and so on)
When I watch pad.map, it looks like this: padr8r
AGaramond-Regular "TeXBase1Encoding ReEncodeFont" <8r.enc <padr8a.pfb
What could the problem be?
An internet search did not provide me of helpful information, alas!
So, any help of you is highly appreciated!
